Animal Evidence
When we were at Douglas creek we saw a black bird it was hard to get because because it was just about to fly off when I took it then it flew away.
We found a woody debris in the creek.
we where looking around and saw a beaver dam there.

This is a large Beaver Dam that is about 12ft down the stream. From were the middle of site 1 was it was about 30 steps from were site 1 was.

Water Quality Conclusion
Douglass creek conclusion
The water at Douglass creek was good over all. The water at site 1 was good except the problem we messed up on our DO test the average was9-12 drops and ours was 52 drops. We don’t know why but we could assume that we had oxygen in our vial.
Our vegetation was good and was improving on the second trip and by the third trip it was great. Our water temperature was 40 degrees f every time. Our shape in cross-section was a U. our longitudinal pattern was straight.
We found many macro invertebrates. Most of those macro invertebrates were non tolerant. But some of the macro invertebrates were somewhat tolerant. This means that they live in places that can be dirty but only a little bit. Since we found tolerant macro invertebrates we can say that the water is good.
Other observations were that the water was very deep and muddy.
Over all the water at Douglass creek was good.

Site Survey
This is the survey for site 1 at Douglas creek 2011. The names of the observers are: TJ, Kylee and Jocelyn. Now we surveyed the artificial structure here. First there were huge culverts. A culvert is a vary large tunnel/hole that would drain water in case of a flood.
Next I will tell you about bank stability. Bank stability is like erosion and telling how much. At our site there was erosion in some areas. Now I will tell you about the stream reach. The vegetation cover on the bank was moderate. The artificial protection was 0%.
Further more I will now tell you about along side stream reach. So we found a road when we climbed up a hill. It had tire tracks on it so we know it was used. It was not a gravel road it was a dirt road. This is vegetation cover it was moderate. Moderate means medium. We also surveyed protection. Protection is about 0-25%. And that is protection. Another thing we surveyed was over head canapĂ© is )-25% there were vary little trees growing over the water and that is the over head canapĂ©. Now the channel, flat bottom and steep side. Macro Conclusion
Well as you can see we found 2 caddis fly, 2 stonefly and 4 Mayfly that is very good for the water because those are non tolerant larvas! My teacher Mrs. Petersen calls them the fancy people how go to the fancy hotels. We also found 2 Beetle larva and we found 4 dragonfly larva. This means the water is good overall. We also found some tolerant bugs but this is usual because they can live anywhere.

douglas creek summary
This is how the plants and animals of the Douglas Creek watershed work together. In site 1 we studied the macro invertebrates, water quality, insects, vegetation, animals, and stream banks. First we will tell you about the water quality at our site. We know our water is clean because we had an 11 of Non-Tolerant larva. The bugs we found are ants second we will discuss the plants at our site. Our vegetation went up since the first time we went. The first time we went the vegetation was low but the second time we went the vegetation was medium and then the last time the vegetation was bigger than we are. Next, we will tell you about the animals and animal evidence. We found cow fur 2 snakes, 4 deer tracks, and coyote scat. We know that because we went to Google and figured out it was coyote scat because it had a little twist at the end - ha! The animals we found were 3 dragonflies, 30 birds, 3 butterflies, and 100 ants. Finally, how is our site at Douglas Creek doing? We think that our creek is doing great.

Site one Survey
We’re from site one at a place called Douglas Creek.
First we’re going to tell you about the riparian zone. The width of the riparian zone looking down stream on the left bank is over 100ft the right bank looking down stream is also over100ft.
Next we will tell you about the vegetation at Douglas Creek. There are 0% conifer trees, 15% deciduous trees, 20% shrubs, and 50% grass and herbs. The overhead canopy is 0-25%.
Second we will tell you about the channel at Douglas Creek. The shape in cross section at site one is a flat place to walk that isn’t very deep than a BIG drop off. The longitudinal pattern is braided. The gradient is moderate.
Third we will tell you about stream banks. The vegetation cover is Abundant. The artificial bank protection is 0-25%. The Bank stability is the bank is eroded in many places.
Fourth we will tell you about the reach habitat. The number of riffles is 3 the number of pools is 4 the percentage of riffles is 40% the number of pools is 60%.Woody debris is abundant at site one. The organic debris is abundant also.
Fifth we‘re going to tell you about artificial structures in the stream reach. There were pipes at our site.
Sixth we will tell you about the artificial structure along side our site. There was litter and garbage.
Last we will tell you about the land uses adjacent to reach there is no recreation, no crops, but there is grazing/livestock access to stream.

Douglas Creek site 1,09
